Approval06-Nov-2010

We got word today that the Tap & Mallet app for the Windows Phone 7 was approved this morning. The cool part about this is that it will actually be a launch day app. The phones get released on Nov 8th, and the app should start appearing in the maketplace later today. We'll post word as soon as it's available.

Even though 1.0 isn't available yet, we are already hard at work on 2.0. So hard at work that it's mostly done. We are just running through a couple test scenarios to make sure it works. Why did we even bother, you may be asking? Simply put, the original version was pretty much a clone of the iPhone app. We like iPhones and all, but WP7 provides some interesting and unique UI widgets. We decided to take advantage of the pivot based UI, which means less clicks for you, and a generally faster app. Here are some screen shots to wet your whistle.

Tap & Mallet Screenshots26-Oct-2010

We finally got some screenshots of the WP7 Tap & Mallet app available. Keep in mind, the pixel density on the actual phone is much higher, so while some of the fonts are hard to read, rest assured, they will be fine on the phone.

Tap & Mallet25-Oct-2010

The (hopefully) official Tap & Mallet app for Windows Phone 7 has been completed. It's not the prettiest thing in the world (yet), but we're working on that. It is functionally complete, and will be released as soon as we get access to the Windows Phone 7 marketplace.

Future releases will include push notification, offline caching, information page, and possibly a mapping feature, for those of you who are looking to find the Tap.

In case you are wondering what the Tap & Mallet is, it is the premier beer bar in Rochester, NY. With a friendly staff and a constantly changing beer menu, mobile apps are the solution to saving hundreds of dollars a year in menu printing. We like to do our part to keep the Tap an environmentally friendly local pub. For more info on the Tap, please visit their webiste at http://www.tapandmallet.com
